Sofistykat is a Miami-based violin duo that specializes in all styles of music from classical to contemporary. With their exceptional skills and passion for music, they create a unique and unforgettable experience for their audience. Whether it's a wedding, corporate event, or private party, SofistyKat is sure to impress and leave a lasting impression.

Katerina Rancano

​

Katerina Rancano is a graduate of Stetson University and Longy School of Music with a Bachelor of Music Performance (Violin) and a Master of Music in Violin Performance. Her passion and speciality is opera pit orchestra. During her undergraduate career, she was a member of the Stetson University Opera Orchestra and performed operas by Monteverdi, Mozart, Ravel, Barber, Handel, and Menotti. She attended Miami Music Festival in the summer of 2019 where she performed four fully staged productions of Ainadamar, Le Nozze di Figaro, Die Zauberflöte, and Der Fliegende Holländer in venues such as the Adrienne Arsht Center Ziff Ballet Opera House.

During her graduate career, she has performed three fully staged opera productions along with two concerts in collaboration with Orchestra FLEX and the Longy Vocal Department. 

 

During the winter of 2016, Katerina established SofistyKat with Sofia Causa when she was in high school and has performed at events like galas, weddings, and fundraisers.

 

Now a professional violinist, Katerina is revamping both her own brand and SofistyKat Violin Duo.

At the national level, she has performed with Itzhak Perlman at the Perlman Music Program Suncoast in Sarasota, Florida  and internationally at the Beaumaris Festival in Wales.

​

She is currently a member of the Alhambra Orchestra and also teaches violin and piano privately.

Sofia Causa

Sofia Causa  is a  graduate of Florida International University (FIU) with a Bachelors in Psychology and a minor in Music (violin performance).

​

Music is an essential part of her life.  She was a member of the Greater Miami Youth Symphony Orchestra for 8 years and 1 year at the Youth

Chamber Ensemble at  New England Conservatory in Boston.

​

During the winter of 2016,  Sofia established SofistyKat with Katerina while she was in high school performing at events such as weddings, fundraisers, and galas. They are both now revamping their business as music graduates.

​

Sofia has a passion for music that led her to play in numerous concerts and ceremonies. At the

national level, she performed with Itzhak Perlman at  the Perlman Music Program Sarasota and  internationally at the II Festival Brunetti in Spain.

Sofia is currently a member of the Alhambra Orchestra.
